Zero investment solar for business: how it works

Solar on your site, lower power bills and nothing to pay upfront. Here is exactly how that works, and what to check before you sign.

Zero investment solar sounds too good to be true, so let us be precise. You do not pay for the plant. You do pay for the power it produces, at a tariff below what you pay the grid today. The saving is the gap between the two, on every unit, from the first day.

Who pays for the plant?

OORZI does. We design, fund, build, own and run the solar plant, and battery storage where it helps. The plant is engineered and installed by Imagine Powertree, which has built urban solar since 2018.

What do you pay?

You pay in one of two ways:

  • Per unit (PPA). A Power Purchase Agreement, where you pay only for the units the plant produces, below your grid tariff.
  • A fixed monthly fee (lease). Useful if your finance team prefers a predictable cost.

What do you need to provide?

  • A suitable site: a roof, parking, a lawn or open space.
  • A valid electricity connection.
  • Your latest electricity bill, so we can size the plant and the saving.
  • A signed agreement, usually for 15 to 25 years.

The four steps

  • Share your bill. We study your load, tariff and site.
  • Get your plan. System size, tariff, savings and contract terms.
  • We build it. At our cost, with approvals handled for you.
  • You save. From the first unit, with operation and maintenance included.

What to check before you sign

  • The tariff and how it changes over the years.
  • The term and what happens at the end of it.
  • Maintenance: who cleans, repairs and monitors the plant.
  • Visibility: can you see generation and savings live? OORZI customers can, on the OORZI platform.

Real results

At six NHIT toll plazas in Madhya Pradesh, OORZI solar costs 51% less than the grid tariff, with nothing for NHIT to invest or maintain. See all four signed sites in our case studies.

Questions people ask

Is zero investment solar really free?

The plant is free for you to install. You pay for the power it produces, at a tariff below your grid rate, so you save from the first unit.

Who maintains a zero investment solar plant?

OORZI does, for the full contract term, including cleaning, repairs and performance monitoring.

Can I get zero investment solar without a usable roof?

Yes. Solar Trees, carports and gazebos put solar on lawns, plazas and parking, under the same zero investment model.

Can battery storage be added with zero investment?

Yes. Battery storage is available as a service too, through a monthly fee or lease, with no capital from you.
